DEIS schools in County Kilkenny

DEIS — Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools — is the Department of Education's programme for schools serving communities at risk of educational disadvantage. A DEIS school gets smaller classes, additional teaching posts, a Home School Community Liaison coordinator, funded books and meals, and access to the School Completion Programme.

DEIS status describes the community a school serves, not the quality of the school. It is a statement about resources going in, and many DEIS schools are excellent. Read it as extra support available, not as a warning.
