DEIS Urban Band 1 schools in County Mayo

Urban Band 1 is the most intensively supported band in the DEIS programme, and the only one that reduces class size: 17:1 in junior schools, 19:1 in vertical schools and 21:1 in senior schools. That is smaller than almost any non-DEIS school in the country, fee-paying schools included.

Band 1 is not a mark against a school. DEIS status reflects the socio-economic profile of the families enrolled, not teaching or outcomes — and it means more resources going in, not fewer. The full explanation is here.
