Schools with autism classes in Ireland
These are the schools in Ireland that run at least one special class for autistic children, sanctioned by the National Council for Special Education. A special class sits inside an ordinary school: the child is enrolled in the school, in a class of no more than six, with a teacher and two SNAs.
A class existing is not a place being available. Sanctioned classes fill, and a school with three classes may have no vacancy this year. This list tells you where to ask, not where you will get in. Ring the school, and contact your NCSE Special Educational Needs Organiser, who knows what is actually open.
One thing that catches families out: children attending a special class travel under the Special Educational Needs transport scheme, not the ordinary school-transport rules, so the 3.2 km and 4.8 km distance limits do not decide it.
